| MISSION STATEMENT |
|
We parishioners of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church
are called by Jesus to be a community of his disciples, growing
in faith and worshiping together in Eucharistic celebration. Nourished
by God's transforming love and blessed by gifts of the Holy Spirit,
we are empowered to live the gospel message and to witness it to
others. Thankful for God's many gifts as Christian stewards
we commit to share our time, talent and treasure in Christ-like
service within our parish community and beyond. We seek God's blessing
and guidance to be faithful to this mission.

Welcome to St. John's new pastor, Rev. John Korbelak!
Fr. Korbelak was born in 1947 in Bayonne, New Jersey
and was raised and educated locally.
Attending St. Vincent's Grammar School, run by the Sisters of St. Joseph
of Chestnut Hill, he graduated and received his secondary education at Marist High School
in Bayonne,
followed by a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing
from St. Peter’s College.
In spite of a very tempting offer of a teaching
fellowship from Notre Dame
University’s MBA program,
he decided to enter the seminary. After ordination, he served at Holy Spirit
Parish in Union Township, St. John the Evangelist in Bergenfield, Our Lady of
Mt. Carmel in Ridgewood, Our Lady of Fatima in North Bergen and my last year,
after a brief sabbatical, was at Immaculate Conception in Montclair. He has taken part in the psychiatric
internship program at Marlboro State Mental Hospital, worked on the development
of a values oriented sex education program for Letchworth Village, conducted
religious education, adult education, twenty‑one years of Pre‑Cana marriage
preparation, ten years of signed English Mass for the deaf and has thirteen
years of experience as a pastor, as well as the usual pastoral activities of a
priest.
He looks forward to working with us all to serve the Lord and seek to grow in holiness.
